Alternate Reality - Episode #258

Jon and Charlie seem to be at odd this week as they often disagree on the finer points of several issues, just who said what, who it was said to, why it was said, whether or not War Machine’s car/armor is a transformer, stuff like that. Chris Partin is the guest that’s so nice we had him twice. Yes Partin is back this week due to personal circumstances that prevented Eric Peterson from joining us again. Despite Eric’s absence, a good time was had by all. Jon was disappointed to learn that the Two-Face Batman costume was a product of Dick’s drug hazed mind, Charlie was overjoyed to find five or six people that are actually capable of writing Deadpool in issue #900, and Chris has decided that Web of Spider-Man is a web of crap and he’s not gonna take it anymore.

Eric Peterson is on vacation this week. So not wanting to do all the heavy lifting ourselves, Jon & Charlie rush out to find the quickest replacement possible. Who’d they find? Why, non other that Chris Partin (formally of http://www.thecomicaddiction.com). Chris brought the spookiness to the show this week with his review of Ghostbusters Displaced Aggression #2. Charlie just couldn’t figure out what the big deal was about Haunt #1, and Jon is befuddled as to why The List: Secret Warriors came out before the book that it follows chronologically. All in all, a strange episode.

Yea!!! Eric’s back from Dragon Con! We’re so overjoyed to have our co-host and all around swell guy Eric “greencapt” Peterson back this week after a brief hiatus while he was gone to Atlanta Georgia for Dragon Con. He was sorely missed.

It’s all comic reviews this episode. Charlie was surprised to find that he actually liked Dark Reign The List Avengers, Eric explains why Magog didn’t deliver in its first issue, and Jon may be in love with Carlos Pacheco based on his glowing review of Ultimate Comics Presents Avengers #2.

The Speed Round is back this week with six, count em, six issues in a whirlwind of comic review goodness. Also Eric teases what he’s got in store for us in the next episode which will be his Dragon Con wrap up show.

Alternate Reality - Episode #236

Technical difficulties continue to plague the Alternate Reality crew as Eric spends more time hung in internet limbo than actually on the phone and reviewing comics. We do manage to get a few reviews out him time its all said and done. He brings the indie love with Poe #1 and continues his rollercoaster ride of anniversary issues with Daredevil #500. Charlie loves the Tiny Titans and explains to us why vampires on the moon need no space suits. And Jon shocks and awes the world by going indie this week reviewing Days Missing #1, but first he starts us off with his longtime true love of Superman in Blackest Night Superman #1.

If you can get through the hang-ups, drop-outs, and computer static, then it’s not a bad episode,….. honest.
